It was established to fight disinfo in the War on Terror and has now morphed into the same thing against Russia and China.
It was established pursuant to Executive Order 13721, signed by President Obama in Mar 2016.
1. The State Dept deals with foreign relations and thus the State Dept Global Engagement Center.
2. If State has the foreign focus covered what is this new outfit in the Dept of Homeland Security supposed to do?
3. They are going to focus on domestic disinfo - like when Trump accused Biden and Hunter Biden of being scumbags and more than 50 "intel professionals" (including the hag appointed to run the new shop in DHS) said it was "classic Russian disinformation" and it, embarrassingly, turned out to be true, true, true.
This is called the "weaponization of government and it is very dangerous. It will serve to stifle anything that is critical of the regime just like its director did in the run up to the 2020 election.
This is dangerous and should be throttled in its cradle.
